About Me

Hey! I’m Guy

A leading real estate investor, author of three books, speaker, success coach and an unshakable desire to help you get to where you want to go.

Early Life and Education: Guy was born in Haiti under EXTREME poverty and raised by a single mother who cared for him and his two younger brothers, living in a one-room mud hut shared with seven others.

Before Guy turned seventeen he had faced several adversities, including depression at an early age, sexual assault, feeling unwanted due to his parents wanted him aborted, homeless in America, and even attempted suicide. However, through hard work and his hunger for success, Guy was able to move from where he was to where he wanted to be.

Guy credits his success to first of all to God who has sustained him, to his mother, and to his High School English teacher who one day looked at him in the eye and said these words that forever changed his life, “you have great potential, but you are wasting it.”  These words caused him to take his education more seriously, to take personal responsibility for his life. That day these words by Goethe came true for him, “Look at a man the way that he is, he only becomes worse. But look at him as if he were what he could be, then he becomes what he should be.”

Business Ventures and Investments: After graduating college, Guy got into real estate investing as result of his homelessness mainly to prove to his doubters that he could own a house. Then he learned that the best revenge is massive success. So, he made success his pursuit rather than revenge. In 2007, Guy founded his first real estate company, Open Door Capital, LLC – a real estate firm specializing in single family residents. Guy is the author of three books: “How to Use Your Home as a Cash Cow”, “The Adversity Success Principles”, and his most recent “The 5 to 9 Real Estate Investor.” In addition, he speaks professionally to people on topics relating to real estate investing, resilience, and overcoming adversity through personal decision, imagination, and self-education.

Charity Work: Guy can identify with Abraham Lincoln when he said, “All that I am or hope to be, I owe to my mother.” Because of the deep appreciation that Guy shared for his single mother for her self-sacrificing love, he was inspired to give back to struggling single mothers in Haiti. So, in 2017, Guy founded 4SingleMoms®- a for-profit organization that empowers single mothers in Haiti through micro loans to start their own businesses and provide training to those already in business. Through this organization, Guy believes that he can help eradicate child poverty in his homeland Haiti one mother at a time.

Personal Life: Guy lives with his wife and two children in Maryland. He pledged to himself to never allow what happened to him as a child happens to his lovely two young daughters. Guy is also a trained Cybersecurity expert but he does not fix computers.
